House of Bread

House of Bread relies on countless volunteers every day to assist with large pick ups of donated food from GFS, Trader Joe's, and Fresh Thyme Market, and to help in our kitchen with preparing and serving the lunchtime meal to our guests.
We are now accepting 3-4 volunteers per day to join us. Hours are 10:00am – 2:00pm and you will be serving food to our guests and helping our staff.
We ask that you are over the age of 16, fully vaccinated, and come with a compassionate mindset.
Email melodie@houseofbread.org and put ‘volunteer’ in the subject line and we will respond within a few days.

Clothes That Work

Organize a donation drive: We rely on the generous donations of others to provide interview and workplace appropriate attire for our clients. We accept donations for a wide variety of sizes and industries, but we request that the items:
    Be clean
    Be in great condition
    Be appropriate for the workplace
Be less than five years old
If you have questions, call us at 937.222.3778!

One Bistro

We strive to serve a healthy, affordable meal to our neighbors—those who have the ability to pay and those who under normal circumstances would not be able to eat out. All menu prices are a “suggested price” as we embrace a “pay what you can afford” concept with the following payment options.
Pay what you can afford. If unable to pay, give your time in service as payment.
Pay the full amount of the suggested price.
Pay the full amount of the suggested price, plus a little extra to “pay it forward.” When you “pay it forward” by $6, you cover the cost of one meal for someone else to enjoy.
Volunteers fall into two categories:
Those who volunteer in order to provide a meal for themselves and/or their families.
Those who volunteer to help as staff and assist in providing meals to those in need.
Volunteers under age 15 may serve with supervision, however, an adult must contact the Manager at 937.736.2358 prior to signing up online.
Volunteer Hours: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday through Friday; 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday; 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.
Anyone may stop in during café hours to see if help is needed. Groups are also welcome to serve together. Email us at info@onebistro.org and we’ll find the perfect opportunity for your group!
