Announcing Our New Rector!

Deborah WoolseyDear Sisters and Brothers in Christ:

It is with great delight that I write to report that our search is over. On November 1, 2012, the Search Committee recommended The Rev. Deborah Woolsey to serve as our next Rector at St. Paul's. After prayer and discernment, the Vestry enthusiastically and unanimously voted to accept the recommendation. Thanks be to God!

The document below has some biographical information for your review.  You can also go to http://stpauls-dayton.org/phocadownload/RevDeborahWoolsey.pdf.  I had the pleasure of meeting Rev. Deborah along with the rest of the Vestry, and later at a dinner with our Junior Warden, Marge Hicks and the chairs of the search committee, Mike Miller and Dana Cunningham. I found her to be warm, engaging and enthusiastic. I left our dinner with a feeling that she is precisely the person to lead St. Paul's wherever the Lord intends to take us on this next phase of our journey.

Rev. Deborah will be joining us in mid-January, and her first Sunday with us will be January 20. In the upcoming weeks, we will be working on ways to celebrate her arrival and to ease her transition. Please keep St. Paul's and Rev. Deborah in your prayers during this exciting time.

Yours in Christ,

Jennifer Harrison
Senior Warden

Rector Search Process

The Calling of a Rector

In March, 2011 St. Paul's rector of 14 years accepted a call from the Bishop of Southern Ohio to fill the role of Canon to the Ordinary, and we began our journey to discern the new leader for our congregation. Our interim rector joined us in August, and in September the Search Committee met for the first time. It has been a joy to listen, learn and share the stories of St. Paul's and the hopes that we have for each other and our future.

On these pages you will find updates on our process, excerpts from our listening sessions as well as our parish profile and other interesting bits of information about the place we call home. We are grateful for the continued prayers and support of the congregation during the search process, and we ask for God's guidance and the presence of the Holy Spirit as we prepare to call a rector for St. Paul's. —the Search Committee

Search Committee Received Names

The Search Committee received candidate names on June 11.  They are reviewing qualifications and hope to begin interviews by the end of June.  Now more than ever it is important to maintain confidentiality.  You are encouraged to read the article “Maintaining Confidentiality in Search Committees”, available in the cloister and attached to this article.  Also available in the cloister is a chart outlining the interview process the search committee will follow.
