There are two volunteer projects in the works, both of which will beautify spaces we see and use on a daily basis. The grounds and gardens are going to be freed from the overgrown bushes and landscaping and re-planted with new, vibrant shrubs and perennials. The PaulPit, our Youth Space, is going to receive a new floor, paint and furniture.
We don't need a Tea Party to eliminate Tax(u)s at St. Paul's
Funded by the Kiefaber Garden and Grounds Earnings Fund and executed by volunteer labor, the biggest goal of the grounds project is to bring the exterior of our campus back to a state that can be both beautiful and easily maintained. The current taxus bushes have become un-manageable and cause sight issues for traffic and pathway issues for walking. The project goes beyond that, though, and led by Joe Schenk, Chris McKee and the Property Committee, the gardens will be noticeably beautified between July 26 and August 1.
You'll be "Floored" When You See it!
The PaulPit is a space well-used by our youth and also by other groups. It hosts formation classes, Rock The Mission concerts, lock-ins and many other activities. The challenge has always been keeping the floors free of food and beverage stains. In the past year the stains have been skillfully covered by furniture and carpet remnants, but it is time for the youth to have a floor that is clean and also easier to keep clean in the future. In addition to the new floor, the renovation, headed by Sharon Ray - our resident bargain-hunter and Formation Director, will include fresh paint and "new-to-us" furniture that will provide the youth with a cleaner environment for learning and recreation.
